🔴 Serious violations at Badr 3 prison.. Strikes and suicide attempts amid complete neglect
In one of the most horrific forms of human rights violations, dozens of detainees at Badr 3 prison are subjected to total isolation from the world, facing complete denial of visits, preventing sunlight exposure, and living under detention conditions unworthy of human beings, making the prison one of the worst places of detention in the world.
Over the past two weeks, the situation inside the prison has escalated dangerously, with three painful suicide attempts recorded, coinciding with the beginning of a complete hunger and medication strike by several prisoners since June 20, amid total disregard from the prison administration. This has led some to enter into a hunger strike, and some have attempted suicide; names of national figures and members of the Parliament have been reported, but we refrain from mentioning them.
The majority of detainees suffer from chronic illnesses and rapidly deteriorating health, with their average age approaching 65 years, resulting in repeated cases of fainting and diabetic comas.
Despite this catastrophic situation, the responsible authorities have shown no response, and some prison officials have mocked the prisoners' demands and belittled their suffering, reflecting a complete lack of humanity.
Al-Shehab Human Rights Center
warns against the continuation of this tragic situation and calls for an urgent and independent investigation into the serious violations faced by detainees in Badr 3 prison, allowing human rights and international organizations to access the conditions of the prison.
The center confirms its complete reservation on mentioning the names of the prisoners to ensure their safety.
