El-Shehab for Human Rights received calls for help regarding Al-Abadiyyah Prison in Damanhur; where the starvation scenario is the prominent and most brutal. The food share of a prisoner over the course of twenty-four hours does not exceed two tablespoons of rice, and similar amount of lentils, together with two eggplant.
Violations against those who object include beating, humiliation, taking them to disciplinary cells, and increased starvation. Also, remittances to the prisoners to buy food from the prison food canteen are delayed for months before they reach them.
El-Shehab for Human Rights condemns the violations in Al-Abadiyyah prison, holds the prison administration and the Prisons Authority responsible, and demands the cessation of these violations, the accountability of those responsible, and the release of all detainees.
