Escalation of Violations at Borg Al Arab Prison and Pursuit of Those Responsible

🔴 The escalation of violations inside Borg Al-Arab Prison... and the pursuit of those responsible

Borg Al-Arab Prison has recently witnessed a dangerous escalation in the rate of serious violations against political detainees and their families, as part of a systematic repression policy aimed at breaking their will and undermining their human dignity.

Through ongoing documentation and monitoring efforts, the center has managed to identify several direct officials responsible for managing and overseeing these violations within the prison, including:

🔹 Officer Tamer – known by the codename "Amr Omar," a National Security officer who is the actual person responsible for issuing orders related to:

Solitary confinement of detainees

Reducing exercise times

Humiliating searches of cells

Preventing family visits

Cutting off water supply to the cells

This officer treats Borg Al-Arab Prison as a closed security file and oversees all details of the repression within it.

🔹 Police Officer Ahmed Mohamed Bakri – known by the nickname "Uncle Bakri the Harasser," from Giza Governorate and residing in Borg Al-Arab City, is accused of:

Preventing the entry of medicines and treatment for detainees

Engaging in direct harassment behaviors towards the families of prisoners, especially women

Repeated humiliation during visits

🔹 Prison Director Ahmed (full name not provided) – known by the codename "Hamza Al-Masri," who oversees the implementation of directives from the National Security Sector, and is considered one of the pillars of the repression system inside the prison, by covering up the violations and abuses that occur daily.

📌 Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights confirms that it is documenting these violations and compiling the names of those involved, and will continue to work with active human rights organizations to:

File lawsuits against them

Pursue them legally at both the local and international levels
