Appeal from detainee Hisham Mamdouh, held at the Khalifa Police Station

🔴 The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center received a distress call from the detainee Hisham Mamdouh, who is held at the Khalifa Police Station.

📄 The text of the distress call as it was received:

"After entering my 12th year in the darkness of prison, if I said it was injustice, I don't think it would matter.

The important thing is that I am here, and I remember that a prisoner in our country should not be punished twice: once by imprisonment, and once by suffering inside the prison.

This is the second message. I just want to tell you that I am already dead, and I will kill myself because of them.

Surely, someone who has been suffering from more than one illness for 7 months, and I tried to talk to them to know what I actually have, but there is no one to respond.

Here, I have been subjected to several psychological pressures and insults.

The first of which was from a police officer named Ramadan Al-Zafar, who assaulted me physically and verbally.

When I complained to the responsible officer, Assistant Officer Ahmed Abdel Nasser, his response was: (Sorry, he has a quarter of a brain).

But I am psychologically unable to bear it. I attempted suicide and went on a hunger strike.

The assistant officer denied me treatment. After I tried to commit suicide by cutting my veins, he responded and I received my treatment when he knew I was about to die.

Now I am truly dying.

I don't know what is wrong with my stomach, and they refuse to take me to the hospital so I can understand and get treated.

Moreover, they are preventing me from having access to a fan or air conditioning like the other sections and prisons, and the air is blocked in extremely high temperatures.

I am suffering from suffocation, in addition to my stomach, back, and leg illnesses.

And the response to everything was: (Mandatory prohibition) — this is the response from Assistant Officer Ahmed Abdel Nasser.

Life has become very difficult.

I don’t know how to continue. Starting today, I am on a hunger strike.

And if I commit suicide, no one should be upset with me. Forgive me... I am tired."

🛑 The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center, while publishing this distress call as it was received, holds the Ministry of Interior and the management of the Khalifa Police Station fully responsible for the life of the detainee Hisham Mamdouh, and therefore demands the following:

Immediate transfer to a specialized hospital for necessary healthcare.

Stop all violations against him and ensure his safety.

Open an urgent and transparent investigation into what was stated in his message.
