Young man Saif Imam (23) dies in Ain Shams police station in Cairo after being arrested on charges of mobile phone theft, allegedly suffering severe torture by police officers.

#Torture_Murder | Continuation of Extrajudicial Killings in Egypt

Young man Saif Imam (23 years old) died inside Ain Shams police station in Cairo, just a few days after being arrested on charges of stealing a mobile phone, following severe torture at the hands of police officers and personnel.

🔹 According to his family:

- Saif was subjected to enforced disappearance for 3 days before being presented to the prosecution, which found that the seized phone was merely his personal phone.

- Shortly thereafter, the family received a call from an officer at the station informing them of his death.

🔹 Upon receiving his body, the family was shocked to find horrific signs of torture, including:

- Skull fractures.

- Nasal laceration.

- Bruises and wounds covering his entire body.

According to his uncle's testimony, six officers and sergeants beat and tortured Saif for several hours while he was handcuffed, until he took his last breath.

⚠️ The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center indicates that Saif Imam's death is not an isolated case, as it was preceded by the deaths of more than 5 citizens in various detention facilities over the past few days, with no official held accountable, reflecting a systematic policy of impunity.

✒️ The Al-Shehab Center affirms that this crime represents:

- A blatant violation of human rights.

- A clear violation of Egyptian law and constitution.

- An act of torture that may amount to crimes against humanity.

📢 Therefore, the Al-Shehab Human Rights Center demands:

1. The Public Prosecutor to open an urgent and transparent investigation into the death of Saif Imam.

2. Accountability for all those involved in this crime, including police officers and sergeants.

3. An end to the series of torture killings in Egyptian detention facilities.
