🟥 The continued enforced disappearance of citizen "Islam Mohamed Qarni" for more than 6 years
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center condemns the ongoing crime of enforced disappearance against citizen Islam Mohamed Qarni Mohamed Gomaa, who was arrested on August 7, 2019, in Nasr City, Cairo Governorate, while he was at work. Since that date, he has not been presented to any investigative authority, and no information about his place of detention has been disclosed to this day.
🔹 According to his family's testimony, Islam is a graduate of the Faculty of Dar Al-Uloom at Fayoum University, works as a painter and decorator, is married, and has a small child whom he has not seen since the moment of his arrest over six years ago.
🔹 Despite the numerous reports submitted by the family to official authorities, they have received no response or official clarification regarding his fate.
The Al-Shehab Center affirms that the continued detention of the citizen without being presented to the prosecution or allowing his family to communicate with him represents a blatant violation of the Egyptian constitution and international law, and holds the Ministry of Interior and security agencies fully responsible for his safety.
🔴 The center demands:
- The immediate disclosure of the location of citizen Islam Mohamed Qarni's detention.
- Allowing his family and lawyer to communicate with him.
- His immediate release unless he is accused of clear legal charges.
- Opening a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances and details of his disappearance.
