🟥 The death of the mother of the forcibly disappeared Sheikh Abdul Malik Qassem, who has been missing for 8 years, without knowing his fate.

The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights mourns the death of the mother of the forcibly disappeared Sheikh Abdul Malik Qassem Mohamed Yadam, who is entering his eighth year of enforced disappearance without any disclosure of his place of detention or allowing his family to communicate with him.

Sheikh Abdul Malik Qassem (46 years old), an imam and preacher at the Ministry of Awqaf, is married and has three children, and he is their sole provider.

He was arrested from his home on April 12, 2017, in Beheira Governorate, by officers from the Abu Matamir Police Station, and was taken to the station. After several days, the authorities completely denied his existence, and since then, there has been no official information about his whereabouts or fate.

His mother passed away today with a broken heart, after years of waiting, searching, and asking without any response or revelation of the truth, leaving this world without knowing whether her son is alive or not.

The Al-Shehab Center confirms that the continued enforced disappearance represents a grave violation of the law, the constitution, and international treaties, and that the harm extends not only to the victims but also to their families, leading to death from despair and sorrow.

The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights demands:

- The immediate disclosure of the fate of the forcibly disappeared Sheikh Abdul Malik Qassem and the location of his detention.

- The release of all forcibly disappeared individuals and the cessation of this ongoing crime.

- The opening of a comprehensive and serious investigation into all reports of enforced disappearance submitted to the Public Prosecutor, and holding accountable those responsible for the continuation of these violations.
