The Supreme State Security Prosecution issues a decision to renew the detention of researcher Ismail Al-Iskandarani and writer Hani Sobhi for 15 days pending investigations, after the prosecution charged them with vague accusations, including joining a terrorist group and spreading false news and statements.

This decision comes in the context of the Egyptian regime's policy of criminalizing independent research and writing, and pursuing dissenting voices with political charges used to restrict freedom of expression and thought.
