Six years of enforced disappearance… and Umm Mahmoud Rateb pleads: “Return my son to me before I die”
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center confirms the continuation of the crime of enforced disappearance against citizen Mahmoud Rateb Younis, who has been missing since his arrest on 12/10/2019, with no official information about his whereabouts or legal status, despite the passage of six full years since his disappearance.
His mother directed a painful message to every official in Egypt, saying:
“I am an Egyptian mother… My tears have not dried for years. My son was taken while returning from work, and since then I have not known anything about him. Mahmoud is kind to me, good, and loved by everyone… He is my support after God.
I wish to see him and hug him before I die… I am afraid my time will come while I am deprived of him.
Please… have mercy on me and return my son.”
Mahmoud's family — along with the Al-Shehab Human Rights Center — demands the immediate disclosure of his fate and the location of his detention, and the cessation of this ongoing humanitarian and legal violation that has lasted for more than six years.
