🔴 Equality between men and women in prolonged arbitrary detention and rotation
The High Commissioner urged the Egyptian government on August 26, 2025, to stop the crime of political rotation, which facilitates the process of prolonged arbitrary detention.
Volker Turk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, also called on the Egyptian authorities to put an end to practices that allow for the arbitrary detention of government critics for extended periods, even after serving their sentences or reaching the maximum limit of pre-trial detention.
