🟥 Referral of journalist Yasser Abu Al-Ala and his wife to the Terrorism Criminal Court
Today, December 2, 2025, the Supreme State Security Prosecution referred 11 defendants in case No. 1568 of 2024 to the Terrorism Criminal Court, including journalist Yasser Abu Al-Ala and his wife Naglaa Fathy Shamel, while they remain in pretrial detention in connection with the case, based on charges of "joining" and "funding."
🔻 Background of the incident:
• Abu Al-Ala was arrested on March 10, 2024, and remained missing for 50 days before appearing before the prosecution.
• On April 27, 2024, security forces raided his home again and arrested his wife and sister-in-law, who remained in enforced disappearance until they appeared before the prosecution on May 11, 2024.
• On November 10, 2024, a default life sentence was issued against Abu Al-Ala in case No. 339 of 2022, despite the fact that he was imprisoned in another case at the time of the ruling, raising serious concerns about fair trial standards.
