⚫ After 5 and a half years of enforced disappearance… Hani Labib Hamid Hashad is held in pretrial detention in a state security case
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights is deeply concerned about the developments in the case of citizen Hani Labib Hamid Hashad (49 years old – a retired non-commissioned officer in the armed forces), in light of the long enforced disappearance and serious violations he has faced.
▪️ On February 18, 2026, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to detain him for 15 days pending investigation in case No. 944 of 2026, after he was charged with joining a terrorist group.
▪️ This comes after nearly five and a half years of enforced disappearance; he was arrested on September 3, 2020, in front of Al-Shorouk Private Hospital in Faisal, by a security force in civilian clothes, and was taken to the National Security headquarters in the Menoufia Security Directorate, where he remained unlawfully detained throughout that period, without being presented to any investigative authority.
▪️ Hani Labib appeared before the prosecution in a state of severe exhaustion, with a noticeable limp in one of his legs, despite the fact that, according to his family, he was in good health at the time of his arrest.
▪️ He has been placed in Badr Prison (3), while the prison administration continues to refuse to allow his family to visit him to this day.
⚖️ The continued detention of the citizen after years of enforced disappearance, and his deprivation of contact with his family, raises serious concerns about his physical and psychological safety, and necessitates an urgent investigation into the circumstances of his detention throughout the past period.
📌 The Al-Shehab Center demands:
To allow his family and lawyer to visit him immediately.
To provide the necessary medical care for his health condition.
To open an independent investigation into the incident of his enforced disappearance over the past years.
To ensure all his legal rights guaranteed by the constitution and law.
