Continued Targeting of Activists’ Families… “Iman El-Shazli” Kidnapped, Sister of Activist “Mona El-Shazli,” in Cairo
🔴 Continued Targeting of Activists’ Families… “Iman El-Shazli” Kidnapped, Sister of Activist “Mona El-Shazli,” in Cairo
With deep concern, Al-Shehab Human Rights Center continues to monitor the Egyptian authorities’ policy of targeting the relatives of activists. Security forces in Cairo have arrested the citizen “Iman El-Shazli” and taken her to an unknown location without presenting any judicial basis or legal justification.
📌 Details of the Violation:
Enforced disappearance and suppression: The citizen Iman El-Shazli is held incommunicado, cut off from the outside world, amid a complete denial of her right to communicate with her family or her lawyer.
Hostage policy and settling scores: Her arrest comes within the framework of ongoing harassment and pursuit of the engineer and activist Mona El-Shazli’s family, as a means of pressuring her relatives residing abroad.
Flagrant violation of the law: Her arbitrary detention constitutes a serious violation of the Egyptian Constitution and international instruments, foremost among them the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
⚖️ Al-Shehab Center’s Demands:
Immediate disclosure of the location where Iman El-Shazli is being held, the conditions of her detention, and her immediate release.
Immediate legal and family access for her family and lawyer, including permission to visit and communicate.
Stop punishing relatives and end the practice of pressuring the families of activists and opponents abroad.
