New Criminal Procedure Law

It will come into effect on 1 October 2026

Law No. 174 of 2025

The law was issued and published in the Official Gazette on 12 November 2025. Article Six of the provisions governing issuance stipulated that it would begin to be applied as of 1 October following the date of its publication.

As of 1 October 2026:

Law No. 150 of 1950 on Criminal Procedure is repealed.

The new Criminal Procedure Law No. 174 of 2025 begins to apply.

Procedures for arrest, investigation, pretrial detention, and trial will be governed by the new rules, taking into account the transitional provisions specified by the law.
