Continued Violations Against Detained Youth Mohamed Hussein

news Thursday 4 December 2025

The ongoing violations against the young detainee Mohamed Hussein El-Ganaini for the fourth and a half consecutive year

The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center documents the continued detention of the young man Mohamed Hussein Mohamed Mohamed El-Ganaini, 26 years old, inside Al-Mustaqbal Prison in Ismailia, since his arrest on August 21, 2021, making the duration of his detention now exceed four years and three months, amidst a continuous series of enforced disappearance and case rotations.

Details of the incident

Mohamed's suffering began when he was summoned by a national security officer in Ismailia via a phone call in August 2021, asking him to come to the security directorate. Mohamed indeed went on August 21, 2021, and since entering the building, he has not returned home.

The young man disappeared for 10 days, then appeared on September 1, 2021, before the Second Ismailia Prosecution, which charged him with false political accusations and decided to detain him for 15 days pending investigation.

Unexecuted release orders and repeated rotations

In March 2022, after more than six months in detention, a judicial decision was issued to release him on a bail of 10,000 Egyptian pounds. Despite paying the bail, he was forcibly disappeared for 63 days.

In May 2022, he was presented again to the Qantara West Prosecution, which charged him with the same accusations and ordered his detention again.

In April 2023, Mohamed received a second decision from the Ismailia Criminal Court for his release, but the decision was not executed, as he was forcibly disappeared for the third time for a month, before appearing on June 3, 2023, before the Fayed Prosecution in connection with a new case.

Since that date until today, December 4, 2025, Mohamed remains in pretrial detention, continuing his suffering and that of his family for nearly the fifth year.

Deterioration of his health and denial of treatment

The center documented the deterioration of Mohamed's health, as he developed severe chest allergies exacerbated by poor detention conditions. Despite his family's attempts to provide medication and inhalers, the administration of Al-Mustaqbal Prison continues to refuse to allow the entry of medicines, putting his life at risk.

Al-Shehab Center's position

The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center affirms that what Mohamed El-Ganaini is subjected to represents a blatant violation of the law and a deliberate disregard for judicial decisions, continuing the policies of enforced disappearance and rotation used to circumvent legal detention periods.

The center demands:

• His immediate and unconditional release

• Allowing the necessary treatment to be provided to him

• Enabling him to enjoy his full legal and human rights
