🔴 The death of detainee Reda Ali Mansour inside a transport vehicle after repeated pleas for help went unanswered
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its deep condemnation and outrage at the death of political detainee Reda Ali Mansour (60 years old) inside a transport vehicle on Saturday, July 13, 2025, after repeated pleas for rescue were in vain.
We have received confirmed information indicating that he died while being transferred from Borg Al-Arab prison hospital in Alexandria to Badr Court in Cairo, and not inside his cell as initially reported.
Reda Ali Mansour, who had been detained since 2021 following a raid on his home in Ismailia Governorate, was transferred days ago from Port Said prison to Borg Al-Arab hospital after his health deteriorated due to cancer, amid severe negligence in providing appropriate medical care.
The administration of Borg Al-Arab prison refused to allow his family to visit him on Thursday, July 10, under the pretext of his deteriorating health. Then, just two days later, they proceeded to transfer him over 300 kilometers in a poorly ventilated transport vehicle known among detainees as "the oven" or "the moving coffin," instead of transferring him in an equipped ambulance, which led to the deterioration of his health and his death inside the vehicle, despite the detainees' pleas for help.
🟥 It is noteworthy that the administration of Port Said prison had previously refused to transfer him to attend sessions due to his critical condition, even though the distance between it and Badr is much shorter than the distance he was transported from Borg Al-Arab.
The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center demands that the Public Prosecutor open an investigation into the incident of death and hold those responsible accountable.
