On the occasion of the International Day Against Enforced Disappearance, Al-Shehab Human Rights Center republishes this report that documents some of the most heinous violations suffered by dozens of citizens in Egypt, who were forcibly disappeared and then extrajudicially executed.

The crime of enforced disappearance is considered a continuous crime that violates the most basic human rights guaranteed under international law, foremost among them the right to life, the right to personal liberty and security, and the right to know the fate of their loved ones. This is a crime that is not subject to statute of limitations and constitutes a severe humanitarian suffering for families who are deprived for years of knowing the fate of their children.

This report documents the names and details of dozens of victims who were subjected to enforced disappearance, before the authorities announced their deaths under mysterious circumstances, often justified by claims of gunfire exchanges. However, the reality, as the report reveals, uncovers a systematic pattern of serious violations that require a transparent investigation and accountability for those responsible.

As Al-Shehab Human Rights Center republishes this report, it reaffirms its full solidarity with the victims and their families, and calls on the international community to pressure for an end to this crime, ensure the disclosure of the fate of the disappeared, and achieve justice and accountability for the victims of enforced disappearance in Egypt.
