Danger Threatens the Life of Ali Mohammed Abdul Wanes After His Arrest in Nigeria

news Tuesday 30 September 2025

🔴 Al-Shehab Human Rights Center

Calls for the non-deportation of citizen Ali Mohamed Mohamed Abdel Wanes

📌 Al-Shehab Human Rights Center condemns the treatment of Egyptian citizen Ali Mohamed Mohamed Abdel Wanes, born on December 20, 1991, who is married and has a child named Mohamed, and is a student in the Bachelor's program in Agriculture at Al-Azhar University. This follows his arrest on August 19 at 8 PM upon his arrival in Nigeria, after having departed from Turkey earlier that same day.

🔴 The center affirms that any attempt to deport him represents a flagrant violation of his fundamental rights and a direct threat to his life and freedom, especially in light of the systematic violations occurring in Egyptian prisons against political detainees.

📢 Therefore, Al-Shehab Center demands that the Nigerian authorities refrain from handing him over to the Egyptian authorities, and ensure that he enjoys his right to protection and is not subjected to the risk of torture or enforced disappearance.

🌍 Al-Shehab Center reiterates its call to the international community and human rights organizations to pressure for the cessation of any actions that could jeopardize the life and safety of citizen Ali Mohamed Abdel Wanes.
