🔴 Collective Punishment… An Arbitrary Search Campaign Ends in the “Exile” of 4 Detainees from Tora Prison to Remote Facilities

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center condemns the campaign of arbitrary and retaliatory measures launched by the Tora Prison administration during the past week. It targeted the cells of political detainees and concluded with the issuance of “exile” decisions against four detainees, who were then transferred arbitrarily to remote prisons.

📌 Detainees against whom “exile” decisions were issued:

1- Mr. Ali – (Sharkia Governorate)

2- Ahmed Nasser – (Beheira Governorate)

3- Fathi Azmi – (Dakahlia Governorate)

4- Mohamed Amr – (Dakahlia Governorate)

📌 Intensifying Suffering and Abusing Families:

The Center stresses that the exile policy constitutes a form of collective punishment and a continuing violation of detainees’ rights and those of their families. It aims to:

Multiply detainees’ psychological and human suffering by isolating them in new, remote detention environments.

Exhaust families and burden them with the costs and hardships of travel and movement over long, difficult distances, amid extremely harsh living and economic conditions.

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center holds the Tora Prison administration and the Prison Authority fully responsible for the safety of the four detainees, and calls for:

The immediate halt to all retaliatory measures against the detainees.

Revoke the arbitrary exile decisions and return them to prisons near their families’ places of residence.

Respect the legal and human rights of detainees guaranteed under the Constitution and international standards.

A comprehensive release of all arbitrarily detained persons and an end to systematic violations within places of detention.
