In Commemoration of the Ibrahim Leader Massacre in Alexandria

🔴 On the anniversary of the massacre at Ibrahim Mosque in Alexandria

📍 On Friday, July 26, 2013, during the afternoon call to prayer, security forces committed one of the most heinous massacres witnessed in Alexandria, in a blatant violation of the right to life and a direct assault on peaceful protesters.

👤 The massacre was carried out by:

Admiral Osama El-Gendy – Commander of the Navy at the time

Major General Amin Ezz El-Din – Director of Alexandria Security

Major General Nasser El-Abd – Director of Criminal Investigations in the governorate

📌 During an assault lasting more than 10 hours, security forces opened live ammunition, birdshot, and tear gas on tens of thousands of protesters around Ibrahim Mosque and Ramal Station, with naval forces participating in the assault by firing directly. Security forces also enlisted dozens of armed thugs wielding knives and firearms.

📉 The attack resulted in:

▪️ The death of 12 citizens

▪️ Injuries to more than 270 others

⛔️ The situation did not stop there; the siege on the worshippers inside the mosque continued for an additional 12 hours, amidst assaults, suffocating gas, and ongoing threats, before security forces stormed the mosque and arrested 84 protesters the following day.

🧒 The massacre witnessed the first child martyr in Alexandria after the coup:

Youssef Abdel Qader Khafaji (14 years old) – son of Engineer Abdel Qader Khafaji, Secretary of the Freedom and Justice Party in the Al-Awaid area, who was killed by a bullet to his chest.

⚖️ To date, the Public Prosecution has not brought any charges against the police officers involved in the massacre.
