Message from inside Wadi al-Natrun Prison 440: "We die one after another"

🔴 A message from inside Wadi al-Natrun Prison 440: "We are dying one after another"

📌 The Al-Shehab Human Rights Center has received a distress message from the detainees inside Wadi al-Natrun Prison 440, revealing the extent of systematic violations and the poor health and living conditions within the prison. The message states:

📝 "Today, our colleague who was with us in prison died, Ibrahim Saqr, a sportsman whose health was good. But we have been living in a state of oppression since we arrived at this prison.

▪️ After we used to have 6 hours of exercise, now we only see the sun for an hour or two a day.

▪️ The head of investigations has banned everything from us, and any request must go through him, and he denies it.

▪️ We are prohibited from buying things from the cafeteria, and the items available are poor quality and overpriced.

▪️ Visits are only a third of an hour each month, and if my niece or nephew comes, they are prevented from entering.

▪️ The medical file is extremely poor, and patients with diabetes, hypertension, and heart conditions cannot find treatment.

▪️ The medication is insufficient and lasts only two days out of ten.

▪️ There are patients who need to be transferred to external clinics, and the doctors refuse; one has white water and can no longer see, and another heart patient has been waiting 3 to 4 months to be transferred.

▪️ We are dying one by one from the pressure we are living under. We are living in cells 22 and 24 hours a day, in inhumane conditions.

⚠️ This is the third person to die this month since we arrived at the prison. What is the fault of our families and children? I haven't seen my daughter and son for 12 years. My wife is treated in the most degrading manner by the informants during visits. When will you speak about us?"

⚖️ The Al-Shehab Center confirms that what is stated in the message once again proves the severity of the conditions inside Egyptian prisons, where detainees are subjected to serious violations that may amount to crimes against humanity.
