⚫ The death of the forcibly disappeared Ahmed Al-Masoudi inside a security facility in Sharqia under mysterious circumstances
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights announced the death of citizen Ahmed Suleiman Eid Al-Masoudi (55 years old), who had been forcibly disappeared since November 11, inside one of the National Security Agency facilities in Sharqia, in an incident that the center described as a complete crime.
Al-Masoudi, a trader residing in the village of Al-Basateen in the Belbeis Center of Sharqia, had lost all means of communication since the date of his disappearance, amid the Ministry of Interior's denial of knowledge of his detention location. His family was shocked on Saturday when they were informed of his death inside one of the secret security facilities in the governorate.
The family received his body after completing the official procedures and buried him in the family cemetery during the early hours of the following day.
It is noteworthy that the Zagazig Criminal Court had issued, on November 11, a decision to release Ahmed Al-Masoudi along with four others, with precautionary measures, after they had been detained in Damanhour prison.
However, instead of implementing the release order, he was forcibly disappeared since that date, without being presented to any investigative authority or allowed to communicate with his family or lawyer, until his relatives were informed of his death weeks after his disappearance.
Al-Masoudi had been arrested in 2015 and had since been subjected to a policy of repeated detention, despite the serious deterioration of his health condition and having received several previous release orders, the latest of which was issued last November.
The Al-Shehab Center confirmed that the deprivation of medical care and his forcible disappearance following the issuance of a judicial release order led to the deterioration of his health and his death inside one of the secret detention places.
The Al-Shehab Center for Human Rights held the Public Prosecutor fully responsible for the rising number of victims of medical negligence inside prisons, due to the lack of serious action regarding the complaints submitted. It also held the Egyptian Ministry of Interior fully legally responsible for the systematic practices that, according to the center, led to the deaths of more than 1,000 detainees in recent years.
