Continued Enforced Disappearance of Agricultural Engineer Ayman Abdelhamid Ibrahim Hussein Since May 2015 After He Was Taken from His Home in Arish, North Sinai

Al‑Shehab Center for Human Rights monitors the continued enforced disappearance of citizen Ayman Abdelhamid Ibrahim Hussein, known as “Ayman Ayoub,” a 63-year-old agricultural engineer and a native of Arish City in North Sinai Governorate, since 2 May 2015, without any disclosure to date of the location of his detention or his fate.

According to his family’s statement, a force affiliated with the Armed Forces took him from inside his home in Arish on the afternoon of 2 May 2015. Since that date, all news of him has completely ceased, and his family has been unable to determine where he is being held or his legal status, amid his disappearance continuing for more than 11 years.

Concerns for his life and safety are growing, particularly in light of his advancing age and the continued ambiguity surrounding his fate throughout these years, as well as the psychological and humanitarian effects his family has suffered as a result of being deprived of knowing his whereabouts or being reassured about his condition.

Al‑Shehab Center for Human Rights expresses its profound concern regarding the continued enforced disappearance of engineer Ayman Abdelhamid Ibrahim Hussein, stressing that the continued detention of any citizen outside the law, and depriving his family of knowing his fate, constitutes a serious violation of human rights that requires investigation and accountability.

The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his being taken from his home and his disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he is being held without any legal basis.
