Al-Shehab Human Rights Center monitors the continued disappearance of citizen Salim Hussein Salman Mashi, 47 years old, who works as a barber, and who is from the Al-Khurbah area in North Sinai Governorate, since 16 April 2016, without any disclosure of his whereabouts or fate to date.

According to information received by the Center, news of Salim has been cut off since that date, and no information has been available regarding his whereabouts or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, in light of his continued absence for more than ten years, amid fears for his life and safety, and the human suffering his family has been enduring as a result of the persistent uncertainty surrounding his fate.

Al-Shehab Human Rights Center expresses its profound concern about Salim Hussein Salman Mashi’s continued disappearance over these years, stressing that the continued unknown status of his fate and the denial of his family’s right to know where he is require urgent intervention by the competent authorities to reveal the truth about what he has been subjected to.

The Center calls on the Public Prosecutor and the relevant authorities to immediately disclose his whereabouts and fate, conduct a serious and independent investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance, ensure his physical and psychological safety, enable his family to be reassured about him, and release him immediately if it is established that he has been detained without any legal basis.
